The historic Corning Opera House is a versatile wedding venue! Seeking rustic? Use your mason jars and burlap accents to bring out the natural elements in the room. Elegant? From the gold chargers to pearls to chandeliers - may be the perfect fit for you. Whimsical? Bring out your bold colors and change things up a bit from the traditional wedding. This 1902 historic grand lady is ready to party with you. The stage can be used for the wedding party and ceremony; the hard wood floor creates a natural dance floor. We are proud to offer our space as a non-traditional wedding venue! Ask about all our options, from tablecloth rentals, to lights and more, to make a memorable day.
A wedding in an opera house? How will this work?
Every couple is unique! Some weddings are small intimate family affairs with a handful of people. You decide how much or little to have in our building, from the wedding reception, wedding ceremony, or wedding dance. We can accommodate either, although it should be noted that the auditorium in not suited for large seated meals over 100 guests, as open space for tables with seating is limited.

What's included in the rental?Your rental fees include the tables and chairs for a day from 8 am to midnight. Table choices are 60" round banquet, 8' tables, and seminar tables in 6' of 8' lengths.
Seating for meals is limited to 104 with tables and chairs in the auditorium. The balcony has fixed theater seating for 166 people. Optional Add-ons Include:
Does the opera house provide catering?A licensed caterer must be used, such as local options of Hy-Vee, Three C's, Primrose or Sweet Desires Bakery.
We can provide bar service with either a open or cash bar option for beer and wine. Our staff must serve alcohol provided to your guests. We can open the concession area with popcorn and candy. We can help you coordinate with catering vendors. Please note the buffet line works the best in the second lobby. Can we get creative?The Corning Opera House encourages creativity and the arts in all forms, including wedding planning! One southwest Iowa wedding created a unique barn door backdrop with lights!

When you are ready to schedule your Iowa wedding, the Corning Opera House can be placed on hold for no more than 14 days. After this time, the date must be secured with a signed contract and a damage deposit.

What should my guests know?
We are a southwest Iowa wedding venue.
Parking is free and located on the public street and the public parking lot, north of the building. Corning Hotel is located on Highway 34, about a mile from our location. The corner main entrance has steps, but the west entrance is handicapped accessible. There is an elevator to the second floor auditorium All restrooms are handicapped accessible. What are the rules?The contract you sign forbids smoking in the wedding venue.
Please help us protect this historic building by using battery powered candles. Absolutely nothing can be taped, stapled, glued, stuck to wall surfaces. |
