"Back to Vinyl was created out of a mutual love of 70's and 80's rock. Based out of the greater Des Moines area, Back to Vinyl's setlists contain music from classic 70's arena anthems, hard-hitting 80's hits, and down-home southern rock standards. Utilizing a wide variety of music in their repertoire allows the band to tailor their setlist to best match each performance's needs. Comprising of individuals that have performed in a variety of professional settings, the band's members are formidable individually and unstoppable together.
A series of chance encounters and a love of all things music allowed for the formation of Back to Vinyl. In 2012, Zane Peters and Dann Kuttler met as incoming freshman at Central College in Pella, IA. Over the next four years, they would bond over their love of music and play in a variety of campus-sponsored and recreational music groups together. After graduation, each would go their separate ways and experiment with a variety of musical ventures. During a tenure in another band, Zane met Grant Willey, a talented guitarist heavily influenced by the southern rock greats. Dann created a band with Kevin Will, a masterful drummer with years of experience in all types of ensembles. After playing together for a few years, Zane and Grant ventured out on their own in 2021 to create a professional, authentic tribute to their musical heroes. Zane reconnected with Dann and he agreed to come on board, bolstering the ranks of the band with his multi-instrumental prowess. He brought along Kevin to cement the rhythm section of the group. Jeff Gorrie was added to the band in 2023 as a third guitarist to allow for more flexibility and a wider variety of music to be played. Beth Kuttler joined the group officially in November of 2023 as a singer, adding a powerhouse vocal talent to round out their sound. Drummer Tony Freitag came to the group in early 2025 and brought a wealth of hard-hitting experience to the group. Drawing on the musical experiences from their formative years, the band has gained recognition for their talents and brilliant sound comprised of skillful instrumentation and faithful recreation of timeless classics. Band members Zane Peters (vocals/guitars/bass/keyboard), Dann Kuttler (vocals/bass/keyboard), Grant Willey (vocals/guitars), Jeff Gorrie (guitars), Beth Kuttler (vocals), and Tony Freitag (drums/percussion) are individually strong musicians, and together they unite to bring to life the beloved rock music of a bygone era. Utilizing shared influences like Aerosmith, Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, and Judas Priest, Back to Vinyl places collaboration at the center of their music, allowing each member’s unique giftings to contribute to and enhance the music. The group’s 2024 shows included an appearance at the Pella Opera House and Prairie Meadows Casino & Racetrack, where their tribute to rock legends was extremely well received. The band continues to work to expand their repertoire of music and to keep paying tribute to the artists that have influenced them." |
